My baby boy is 5 weeks today and he has been havin a hard time poopin and cries all day. We asked my doctor is its ok to give him prune juice with water to help him to poop but it doesnt seem to be helpin at all and we feed him it every day in the morning.
he had a hard time poopin befor and we a switched his formula to one with less iron and it helped for a bit.
Does any one have any tricks i could try that would help me and him out?Advice to help my 5 week old baby boy..?
Try a glycerin suppository. They work well when all else failsAdvice to help my 5 week old baby boy..?
when my daughter was a baby she was always constipated so the pediatrician suggested that we use enemas to help her with her bowel movements, you can also try putting a dab of karo syrup on the tip of their pacifier that also helps them.
If the prune juice isn't working he probably needs help at the other end. Put a baby-size glycerine suppository in him - it's safe for frequent use if need be, and it'll help him do a dooey in 5-15 minutes.
Rub his belly, lay him on his back and push his legs like he is on a bicycle. Really, since he is on formula, this is something you are going to have to deal with until his digestive tract becomes more mature.
Okay,... this might sound gross but it works. Dab a Q-tip in Vaseline, pull his legs up and ';tickle'; his anus with it. It helps the sphincter muscle contract. Just like suppositories, only when you absolutely have to. Some babies get used to it and rely on it.
I would give him a little kero syrup. that will help but be care not to give him too much or you will have the opposite happen . If that fails talk to the peds dr. again.
My son was the same way. We had to give him the Little Tummy's laxative drops. You can usually get some anywhere they sell cold medicine and other things of that nature, drug stores, grocery stores, etc.
